Friends of Hotspur is a group of parent/carer volunteers who work together to plan events for school to benefit the pupils. We raise funds to supplement school resources, providing extra curriculum experiences and enhance the education experience of the children. We strive to keep prices at events affordable so all the school community can participate. Funds raised at fairs are mostly fed back into future events.

Hotspur’s Cultural Kaleidoscope Celebration – We Need Your Help!

Friday 20th June 2025 – 3:15pm to 5:30pm

This summer, Hotspur is throwing a vibrant Cultural Kaleidoscope celebration — and we need you to help make it amazing!

After school on Friday 20th June, Friends of Hotspur will be running a range of fun stalls, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make it all happen.

Can you help with one of these stalls?

  • BBQ
  • Drinks (hot and cold)
  • Tuck Shop (sweets and snacks)
  • Ice lollies (Frozen Friday!)
  • World Foods (cakes and dishes from around the world)
  • Sweetie Tombola
  • Tombola
  • Raffle
  • Face painting

Plus, KS2 children will be running their own games too!

We’ll be sending out a sign-up form soon — please join our mailing list (see the form at the bottom of this page) so you don’t miss it.

We will also need some helpers to set up stalls before the event.

Can you donate something?

We’re also collecting donations to help stock the stalls. In particular, we’d love:

  • Raffle prizes – vouchers, bottles, gift sets, or experiences.
Please consider asking your workplace if they could donate a prize – many businesses are happy to support local schools!
  • We’re running a new Rainbow Raffle, and each year group will be assigned a colour. We're asking families to donate a non-perishable item (something that won’t go off) in their year’s colour. For example - Red – Maltesers, ketchup, Ritz crackers, strawberry jam. Yellow – Weetabix, Crunchie, Custard Creams. All the donations will be grouped into colour-themed hampers, which will be raffled off at the fair.
  • Tombola prizes – unopened gifts, toiletries, toys, and other fun items.
  • World Food contributions – snack-sized cakes, sweets, or savoury foods from any culture are very welcome!  Please label items clearly with any allergens or dietary information (see school guidelines for details).
  • Pre-loved Cuddly Toys – while we’re not running toy or book stalls this summer, we’d still love to make use of any clean, unwanted soft toys. These will be used as prizes for some of the games that the children will be running – a great way to give them a second life and bring some smiles!

Donations can be dropped off at the school office from Monday 16th June – we’ll send out reminders closer to the time.

Volunteering

We know that parents and carers will also want time to enjoy the fair and spend time with their children. If you can, please ask a partner, friend, or family member to help – more helpers means shorter shifts for everyone!

Some workplaces offer paid volunteering time (Employee-Supported Volunteering) – this could be a great opportunity to use it while supporting the school!

School staff will be managing the gates to make sure children stay safely on site throughout the event.

Let’s make this a joyful celebration for the whole Hotspur community!

Frozen Fridays are back

After May half term, Friends of Hotspur will be bringing back Frozen Fridays — a cool end-of-week treat for the kids!

Where: Bottom yard

When: Every Friday from 6th June to 11th July 2025
Time: From 3:15pm til we sell out!

Price: 50p per lolly (cash only please)

We’d love a few extra hands! If you can spare 20 minutes to help serve, it’ll help the queue move faster — and keep things running smoothly. Please join the mailing list (form below).

How can I help?

Ways you can help support Friends of Hotspur include:

Running stalls, helping sort donations in the days before the fairs, baking cakes, face painting, creating new games from scratch, helping keep an eye on kids of other volunteers during events, helping pack up afterwards. You’re welcome to bring your babies/toddlers along if you need to!

As well as casual helpers, we are also looking for volunteers who have experience writing grant applications, people willing to join the committee, or take on a role such as treasurer.

What are Friends of Hotspur fundraising for?

We support Hotspur with some little extras, to enhance pupil’s experience of school.

This year we have:

  • Purchased school teddies for all new reception starters.
  • Funded a portable Sensory Den for the increasing numbers of pupils with additional needs, or those who are feeling dysregulated.
  • Covered entertainment hire costs for events such as the Halloween disco/fairs.
  • Supported the school to refurbish the school Library.

Previously, FoH fundraising has contributed to purchasing the wooden play structure. We consult with the school leadership team to provide funds for projects the school requires support with and are currently discussing our next exciting venture!
